Charles A.'s Story

Attended Jacksonville State for two years, 1965-67. Enlisted in U. S. Army in April, 1967, became a Special Forces Soldier and a Medical Aidman/Supervisor. Married Sarah Hewett on August 9th, 1969, and went to Viet Nam in September, 1969. Started Surgeons Assistant Program at UAB in September, 1970 and graduated in 1972. rest in two private practice groups in Birmingham. I retired the end of December, 2013. Sarah and I have two sons, Russ and Josh and four grandchildren, Katelyn, Isabel, Kenny and Lincoln. Still live in the Banks neighborhood in Shadywood community. Since retiring, I'm trying to improve my physical conditioning. I go to the gym on Mon, Wed and Fri. I've lost from 218 lbs down to 190. Going for 185, I think. I'm sixty-eight, but well meaning people keep telling me I don't look it. I credit Sarah with that, if at all true.
